Meet the team

KIPA is a completely volunteer-led organisation. We hold elections annually for new board members, as voted for by KI postdocs. Any postdoc is eligible to nominate themselves for a position on the executive board and elections are held annually between November and December.

KIPA Executive Board 2023

  • Kai-Yuan Cheng

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics since November 2022. Originally from Taiwan, I have a background in clinical medicine and social epidemiology and am currently studying the environmental risk factors of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. As the president, my main duty is the coordination and management of the KIPA board and representing KIPA externally on university, nationwide, and European platforms. You are welcome to contact me with any questions regarding KIPA!

  • Natalia Hernandez-Pacheco

I am a postdoc at the Department of Clinical Science and Education (Södersjukhuset) since June 2021. My major interest is the study of genetic factors of complex human traits. My current work is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying different asthma-related traits through the combination of genomics and proteomics. I also investigate the genetic determinants of lung function from birth to adulthood by the construction of polygenic risk scores. My role as secretary is to assist the Chair and Vice-Chairs and to take care of organizational matters.

  • Mariano D'Angelo

I am a Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Neuroscience since March 2021. My research focuses on how multisensory integration originates the sense of body ownership. I joined KIPA in January 2023 and my role as treasurer is to ensure KIPA remains financially responsible.

  • Ahlem Zaghmi

I joined KIPA as a Vice Chair for Advocacy and Representation in January 2023. Together with an amazing team, we oversee designing, distributing, and analyzing the KIPA annual survey. We aim to ensure better working conditions and institutional representation for KI postdocs. I am also one of KI's representative to the Swedish National Postdoc Association (SNPA) and work on advocating for Postdoc issues locally, nationally, and internationally. Besides being an active member of KIPA, I am doing my Postdoc in the Department of Medicine at Per-Johan Jakobsson’s lab.

If you wish to be part of this fantastic working group and shape the environment for postdocs for years to come, please feel free to contact me.

  • Luca Andronico

I am a postdoc in Sezgin’s lab (CSI:Nanolab) at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health (KBH) since March 2021. My research is focused on understanding the correlation between remodelling of cell’s biophysical properties and diseases/dysfunctional states. As part of the Professional Development team at KIPA, I work together with the other members to help postdocs (but not only) moving forward in their professional career, either inside or outside the academia. Thus, we coordinate with the Career Service Office at KI to organize events which brings together people from the KI community and the private sector.

  • Martina Bonatti

I am a post-doc in Åsa Wheelock's "Pulmonomics" lab at the Department of Medicine in Solna since March 2022. In my job, I try to figure out how chronic lung diseases work on a biological level using omics data. As Vice Chair for Community Building, I manage and coordinate events that promote a sense of community among KI's postdocs. Being a postdoc is sometimes hard, so as KIPA, we would like to provide opportunities for you to meet new people, share your experiences, and enjoy the social life in Stockholm. Being happy and satisfied is a great way to boost your scientific productivity! Contact me for any questions!

  • Sadia Monzur

I am a post-doctoral in Jonas Fuxe group since August 2022, Division of Pathology, Department of Laboratory Medicine. My studies here focus on EMT based biomarkers for diagnosis of breast cancer. I am also investigating iPS derived cancer stem cell model to explore how cellular plasticity contributes to the tumour microenvironment. As a KIPA Diversity and Inclusion officer I am taking in the role for promoting good relationship and practices towards the international research community.

  • Hazel Xiaohui Ang

I am a post doc in Christian Riedel’s lab at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition since May 2021. I study aging biology while searching for aging-preventive interventions. As a communications manager at KIPA, I manage our biweekly newsletters, subscriber mailing list, social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), external KIPA website, and facilitate liaison through emails. I work closely with the KIPA executive board and other KI offices to make sure that information transfers smoothly to the KIPA community.
